Description

Advances in technique and rising patient expectations have reshaped modern facial rejuvenation, and this fully updated edition delivers a practical, experience-driven guide to achieving refined, natural facelift results. Written by Dr. Joe Niamtu III along with respected contributors in aesthetic surgery, the book blends surgical precision with artistic judgment, focusing on how to plan, execute, and refine contemporary facelift procedures with confidence.

The text walks readers step by step through today’s most requested approaches, including deep plane facelifts, minimally invasive techniques, male facelifts, chin augmentation, revision surgery, and management of the aging neck. Each procedure is supported by detailed intraoperative photography, clear illustrations, and structured explanations that emphasize anatomy, surgical markings, tissue handling, flap management, and strategies for avoiding complications.

Beyond technique, the book highlights patient evaluation, treatment planning, and decision-making principles that directly impact long-term outcomes and patient satisfaction. Practical pearls, technical refinements, and real-world insights from a high-volume aesthetic practice make it especially valuable for surgeons who want to elevate both consistency and results.

Designed for trainees and experienced aesthetic surgeons alike, this edition serves as a comprehensive, visually rich reference for mastering modern facelift surgery and delivering predictable, high-quality outcomes in today’s competitive aesthetic landscape.

  1. Kian Eftekhari

Dr. Niamtu and colleagues do an incredible job of explaining a complex surgery and distilling it to individual achievable steps. It’s hard to write a surgical textbook because there is anatomy to explain, individual variations in technique, and clear safety guidelines to adhere to. The authors do a fantastic job of explaining danger zones in facelift surgery, sprinkling in practical pearls of patient positioning, staff roles, and office setup, and the outlining the “meat and potatoes” of their preferred technique in facelift surgery. Most importantly, they have a chapter on complications with priceless photographic examples of what can go wrong, and also of anatomical landmarks for where to be in surgery. For someone at the beginning or middle of their facelift technical journey, this book has something for you.

  2. Dr. Michael Hartmann

This book is one of the clearest facelift surgery resources I’ve ever owned. The step-by-step photo sequences combined with the surgical videos make it much more practical than older facelift texts. The section on deep plane technique alone is worth the price. It has become my go-to reference before complex cases.

  3. Dr. Aisha Rahman

Dr. Niamtu presents facelift surgery in a way that’s both technical and approachable. I especially value the chapters on neck management and revision procedures. They reflect real-world challenges surgeons face every week. The book doesn’t just teach the procedure, it prepares you for pitfalls and complications too.

  4. Dr. David Chen

As a trainee, I found this book incredibly helpful. The explanations are straightforward, the illustrations are vivid, and the videos walk you through maneuvers that can be difficult to understand on paper. Having access to the eBook on my iPad is a huge plus for quick review in the OR.

  5. Dr. Sofia Martinez

What sets this edition apart is the balance between art and science—precisely as the title suggests. Dr. Niamtu emphasizes aesthetic judgment as much as surgical execution. His section on patient assessment and preoperative marking has significantly improved how I plan my facelifts.

  6. Dr. James O’Connor

I’ve followed Dr. Niamtu’s teaching for years, and this second edition is his best work yet. It’s comprehensive without being overwhelming, modern in its techniques, and practical in its guidance. I recommend it to any surgeon serious about elevating their facelift practice.
